It s ideal for cleaning granite and a number of other household surfaces that need gentle care. So the porosity or absorbency of your granite is a key factor in determining how much a sealer can improve the stain resistance of your countertop. Despite what some experts might suggest it s not always necessary to seal your granite countertops at the end of each year. The stone s absorption rate and the type and quality of any granite sealer you ve previously used plays an important role in determining how often you ll need to reseal your countertops.

A simple way to test if your countertop is sealed is to leave a few drops of water on the countertop. It s best to use a commercial product to seal your granite to ensure they are adequately protected. On the other hand if your granite takes 10 minutes to stain initially then just one coat of sealer may extend that time to 30 minutes or more. Do make sure your granite countertops are properly sealed.

All natural products are porous and can stain if you spill red wine or coffee on them if their sealer is compromised. We do not recommend using alcohol on any natural surface as it strips off the sealer which is designed to keep your countertops from staining. A granite sealer is what makes the surface shiny. We recommend using 2 parts vinegar and 1 part water to clean your granite marble.
