Making a carpet board.

You have your target at this point but you can improve it by making the carpets a little more even lay the target with its face to the ground and then step on it. You want this to be as well compressed as possible so if you need to sit on the top board to compress the carpet more go for it. Use a black marker and straightedge to mark the carpet backing where you want to cut it. Lay the 1x8 x 8 next to the long side of the rug then mark the length of the rug onto the board.
